In the rural Lääneranna municipality lives a close-knit and hardworking family raising a total of seven children. Among the youngest is 8-year-old Oskar – a spirited and joyful boy who has been dealt a difficult hand by fate in the form of a serious illness. Oskar attends the Pärnu Päikese School, an institution essential for his development. However, this creates a daily logistical challenge: the school run is a 60-kilometer journey one way.
Since Oskar cannot use public transport due to his condition, the only lifeline between home and school has been his father, Andres, and the family’s old Chrysler. This car is not just a vehicle; it is Oskar’s only access to education and care.
The Accident That Stopped the School Run
On a snowy November evening, while Father Andres and Oskar were on their way to Pärnu to pick up Mom from work, road conditions suddenly turned treacherous. Near the Audru intersection, the family car lost control on the slippery road and slid deep into a ditch. It was a miracle that both little Oskar and his father escaped unharmed, but their faithful car was severely damaged.
The Situation Today: The Family is Essentially Trapped
Today, the family faces a harsh reality. Father Andres is retired due to health issues, and the sole breadwinner is Mother Sirje, who carries the weight of raising the five children still living at home. Without a car, the family is isolated in the countryside:
-
Oskar cannot get to school, which is the foundation of his daily routine and development.
-
Mom’s commute to work and back is extremely difficult.
-
The family has no replacement vehicle and no savings to buy a new one.
With Your Help, We Can Get Oskar Rolling Again
Our goal is to restore the family’s sense of security and freedom of movement. Your donation will help us repair the family car so that Oskar’s mornings can once again start with a drive to school, not with uncertainty.
Where Exactly Does Your Help Go?
We are 100% transparent with you. Since the car was recently taken to the workshop, we are currently awaiting a precise price quote, but the needs are clear and critical. Your donations will be used strictly for the following costs:
Goal A: Repairing the Current Vehicle
-
Spare Parts: Replacing technical and body parts damaged in the crash.
-
Labor Costs: Paying the workshop for the restoration work.
Goal B (Alternative): Acquiring a Replacement Vehicle
If it turns out that repairing the old car is unreasonably expensive, we will direct the funds (or welcome a donation in kind) towards finding a replacement vehicle.
-
We are looking for: A 7-seater family car.
-
Preference: Diesel or gas engine (to reduce the family’s daily fuel costs).
Dear Donor, Your Contribution Matters.
Even though we do not yet know the final repair sum, we know one thing for sure – this family cannot manage without outside help. Every euro you donate goes directly towards paying the workshop bills or helping the family find a new means of transport.
Please, help Oskar get back to school!
