Restoring the Sarapson’s Home – Let’s Help Together!

On December 11th, a tragic accident occurred in Põhja-Sakala Parish, Viljandi County, where a fire completely destroyed a two-story house. Three generations, including a day-old baby, lost their home and all their belongings. It was a devastating tragedy, but we have the opportunity to help this family get back on their feet.

Experts are currently investigating the causes of the fire, but we were contacted by a strong supporter and donor, Eerika, who asked us to launch a project to help the family. We have also been in contact with the local government, and with the help of the municipality, an initial collection has already been organized. The mayor confirmed that the municipality is ready to provide additional support within its means.

Current situation:

• Home insurance covers up to 30,000 euros, of which 10% is the deductible.
• 10,000 euros have been collected with the help of the municipality and donors.
• A total of 40,000 euros is currently available.
• The family is ready to take on the construction work themselves.

Goal: Restoring the house is estimated to cost between 60,000 and 65,000 euros, depending on the building material donations received. Approximately 20,000 – 25,000 euros are missing.

Project details: We plan to partially restore the house to a size of 10 x 19 m, totaling approximately 190 m².

Materials and work stages required:

• Foundation:

  • Filling sand
  • L-blocks for the slab foundation, approximately 58 meters
  • EPS (100mm, strength class 100) approximately 360 m²
  • Reinforcement bars (10mm) approximately 250 meters
  • Reinforcement mesh (10mm) approximately 220 m²
  • Underfloor heating pipe
  • Concrete (approximately 16m³)

• Exterior walls:

  • Bauroc 375 x 600 blocks, approximately 1100 stones in total
  • Sills (5-6 pcs)
  • Alternative wall construction materials (depending on available offers)

• Wood material:

  • 50 x 200 mm
  • 32 x 100 mm or 28 x 100 mm
  • 22 x 50 mm
  • Glued laminated timber beams (100 x 200 mm)

• Insulation and roof:

  • Stone or glass wool for insulation
  • Breathable roof underlay (300 m²)
  • Roofing material (eternit, tin, or other), roof area approximately 300 m²

• Other necessary materials:

  • Modular chimney or chimney stones (about 7m)
  • Windows and exterior door
  • Fasteners, electrical cables, etc.
