Summer has slipped by and a new school year has begun. There is something heart-warming about seeing excited children on their way to school — new clothes on, school bags over their shoulders, and a head full of expectation for the year ahead.
Sadly, that joy is not a given for every child. Many families simply cannot afford the school clothes, shoes, bags and supplies their children need.
To support those children, Naerata Ometi MTÜ is running the project “Children to School” for the third year in a row, together with “Perekolle”, the association of large families in Narva.
Through the project we collect school supplies, school bags, clothes and footwear for children growing up in substitute homes, for large families, and for children with special needs and their families.
This year we deliberately started in early September. Now that the first school days are behind us, the real and specific needs of the children and their families are becoming clear. The project runs until the end of September, so that we can direct help exactly where it is needed most.
As things stand, roughly 100 children starting first grade and about 200 older pupils need our help. We are continuing to map what families and children need, and we share updates on our website and Facebook page as the project goes on.
Two ways to help
What you can donate
- school bags and backpacks
- school supplies: notebooks, pencil cases, pens and pencils, drawing materials
- clothing — autumn and winter wear, sportswear
- footwear: indoor shoes, sports shoes, autumn shoes
Items may be second-hand as long as they are clean and in good repair.
A donation of money is just as valuable — with it we buy exactly the size and
the item a particular child is missing.
Handing items over
Let’s agree how to get them to us
Write or call and we will agree on a time and place. If you have a larger amount,
we will come and collect it ourselves.

Every contribution reaches a specific child
Every contribution — small or large — can mean a new school bag for one child, the shoes another one needed, school supplies, or simply the confidence that they too can start the school year with everything they need.
Thank you for helping — together we can do more.
