In Harju County lives 12-year-old Riho, raised alone by his devoted mother Nadežda. Riho is not quite an ordinary boy – he needs round-the-clock support in his daily life, but his wish to move, to grow and to discover the world is just as great as that of any other child.
Everyday challenges and small victories
Riho has been diagnosed with a mixed developmental disorder, speech impairments and a mild intellectual disability. Large groups of people are not suitable for him, and he needs an individual approach both in learning and in sport. Ordinary school was very hard for Riho, but today he studies in a special class, where the teachers’ dedication and a simplified curriculum have helped him make noticeable progress.
Riho’s mother Nadežda fights every day for her son’s better future, dealing with the school and the authorities to secure the best possible conditions for her child. She has partial work capacity, works part-time in Tallinn and struggles with health problems of her own. Despite support from the local municipality, the family’s modest income goes entirely on rent, medicines, clothing and the boy’s basic needs. Raising a child with special needs brings costs that are very hard to carry alone.
Why is your help so important?
More than anything, Riho loves football, cycling and acting. These are not simply hobbies for him – they are vitally important activities that:
- develop his physical fitness and mental capacity;
- support his social skills and self-confidence;
- give him the chance to enjoy an ordinary childhood.
Sadly, his mother no longer has the financial means to cover the cost of the boy’s training sessions and activities.
The goal of the support
We are turning to you with a request to help cover Riho’s monthly activity costs, so that the boy can continue his journey of development.
The amount needed each month is 135 euros in total:
- Football training: €90
- Cycling training: €35
- Drama club: €10
Every donation – large or small – gives Riho the chance to keep developing, moving and communicating. Perhaps he will grow into a fine athlete and an example to many other children who need a little more support and a little more belief in themselves.
Together we can do more. Thank you to everyone who is able and willing to support Riho’s journey!
